Position Purpose

The Branch Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the smooth day-to-day operation of a local TSLoT branch and helping to ensure it provides a welcoming, well-organised and effective service to the community.

The role is the key link between the local branch team, TSLoT’s central coordination team and the local Council. The Branch Coordinator supports and coordinates the branch’s volunteer team, identifies operational issues and helps ensure that local activities align with TSLoT’s policies, procedures and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee Branch Operations
  • Oversee the overall operation and presentation of the local branch.
  • Ensure the branch is operating safely, efficiently and in accordance with TSLoT policies and procedures.
  • Help ensure the branch has the equipment, resources and volunteer support needed to operate effectively.
  1. Liaise with Council
  • Act as the local point of contact with Council where required.
  • Maintain a positive and productive relationship with Council representatives.
  • Escalate significant issues or matters requiring organisational-level decisions.
  1. Coordinate Local Team Leaders
  • Coordinate and support the local team leaders, including Front Desk, Maintenance, Donations and Accession Coordinators.
  • Encourage good communication and collaboration between the different volunteer teams.
  • Help identify gaps in volunteer coverage, training, resources or responsibilities.
  • Support team leaders to resolve local issues and escalate matters when necessary.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive volunteer culture within the branch.
  1. Participate in TSLoT Coordination
  • Attend the monthly TSLoT Coordinator meeting.
  • Provide a brief report on branch activities, achievements, issues and upcoming priorities.
  • Share relevant information from the central TSLoT team with local volunteers.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to improve TSLoT’s overall operations.

Skills & Experience Needed

The ideal Branch Coordinator will have:

  • Good organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage several activities and priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with volunteers, Council staff and other stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to support, motivate and coordinate a diverse volunteer team.
  • Problem-solving skills, with a practical and constructive approach to resolving issues.
  • Reliability and initiative, with the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek assistance.
  • An understanding of, or enthusiasm for, TSLoT’s purpose, including sharing, sustainability, reuse and community connection.
  • Previous experience in volunteer coordination, community organisations, libraries, retail, operations or a similar environment would be an advantage, but is not essential.
