Volunteer Opportunities: Stakeholder Engagement

We are urgently seeking motivated volunteers to support stakeholder engagement connected with the COP30 Action Agenda.

This work will focus on gathering and accurately documenting the views, priorities and recommendations of member organisations. Volunteers will help ensure that relevant organisations are consulted, followed up and supported to provide the information required.

What you’ll be involved in

Depending on your skills and experience, you may assist with:

  • Identifying and mapping relevant organisations and stakeholders
  • Mapping policies, initiatives and areas of organisational expertise
  • Conducting background research
  • Attending meetings to understand the work and information required
  • Taking clear notes and recording agreed actions
  • Following up with organisations after meetings
  • Encouraging stakeholders to submit their views and information on time
  • Supporting outreach and stakeholder communications
  • Helping to organise consultations, meetings and events
  • Monitoring engagement and maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting surveys and other consultation activities
  • Organising and summarising information received from participating organisations

This is primarily a coordination, research and stakeholder-engagement role. Volunteers will not be expected to contribute their own views to the Action Agenda. Their role will be to help gather, document and communicate the perspectives of participating organisations accurately and effectively.

Who we’re looking for

We would particularly like to hear from people interested in:

  • International advocacy
  • Campaigns
  • Research and policy
  • International development
  • Climate action
  • Stakeholder engagement

Successful volunteers will ideally be:

  • Organised, proactive and dependable
  • Comfortable contacting and following up with people
  • Clear and professional communicators
  • Able to take accurate notes and identify action points
  • Confident conducting online research and organising information
  • Respectful of different organisational perspectives
  • Able to represent other organisations’ views accurately and without imposing their own
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Able to respond to time-sensitive priorities

Relevant study or professional experience would be helpful, but enthusiasm, sound judgement, reliability and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Why volunteer?

This role offers an opportunity to:

  • Contribute to meaningful work connected with the COP30 Action Agenda
  • Gain practical experience in international advocacy and stakeholder engagement
  • Build skills in research, policy mapping, consultation and event coordination
  • Learn how organisations contribute to international policy processes
  • Develop professional connections and experience working across organisations

Commitment

This work has recently become urgent, so we are looking for volunteers who can begin soon. Volunteers must be available to attend relevant meetings and complete agreed research, outreach and follow-up tasks within the required timeframes.

To express your interest, please send a short introduction outlining your relevant interests and skills, your availability, and why you would like to support this work to [email protected]
