Coding experience is not required. The designer should, however, be comfortable collaborating with developers and preparing designs that can be realistically implemented.

Previous professional experience is highly regarded but not essential. University students, recent graduates, emerging designers and experienced professionals are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should provide a portfolio or examples of relevant website, interface or digital design work.

Relationship to other digital roles

The Website & UI Designer will determine the visual direction, layouts and user interface of the public website.

The Front-End Web Designer & Developer will translate approved designs into working web pages. Content writers and graphic designers may provide written content, illustrations, photographs and other visual assets.

This role does not require responsibility for coding, back-end development, hosting or technical infrastructure.

Location and commitment

The role is based in Sydney and is online or remote friendly. Most work can be completed remotely, with occasional online or in-person collaboration where mutually convenient.

Approximately three to five hours per month is anticipated for an initial period of up to six months. Work is flexible, with deadlines agreed in advance.
