**Placements Assistant **

We are looking for a passionate and motivated person to join the IVP team. This is a volunteer role.

About us:

International Volunteers for Peace (IVP) is a non-profit local community group. It focuses on organising volunteering opportunities around worthwhile community needs and causes, for which it recruits participants from Australia and all across the world through its global network.

IVP is the Australian branch for Service Civil International (SCI), with Branches in 44 countries and 106 Partners and Contacts in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. More than 5000 volunteers participate in hundreds of volunteer projects each year.

SCI received the title of “Messenger of Peace” from the General Secretary of the United Nations in recognition of SCI’s efforts to promote peace and international understanding and for activities developed during the International Year of Peace in 1985. IVP is also a member of Network for Voluntary Development in Asia (NVDA) which is a network of international voluntary service (IVS) NGOs in Asia & Oceania.

IVP activities are aimed at encouraging understanding among peoples and promoting discussion and an appreciation of the problems that different communities face in their struggles for social justice and environmental harmony.

We are looking for someone who: ● Aligns with IVP the mission ● Has the ability to communicate with a variety of people including volunteers and placement officers from International Organisations ● Has strong organisational skills ● Is willing to learn to use an Online Placement System (OPS) for placing Volunteers

Responsibilities: ● Work under the direction of the Placement Officer ● Check placements email (a minimum of twice per week) ● Be a part of weekly meetings with the Placement Officer (1 Hour per week) ● Communication with various stakeholders and partner organisations overseas ● Placing Volunteers on Projects, both incoming and out-going by using the OPS. ● Send out relevant camp information to volunteers and partner organisations ● Alert placement officer on placement updates ● You will be welcome to join the Monthly Committee Meetings and meet the team members ● Training will be given by the Placements Officer until you feel comfortable in the role.

This is an opportunity for you to gain experience in an International Environment. The role is interesting as you will be communicating with people in similar roles around the world.

Time commitment: We ask for up to 2-3 hours per week. This is a remote role.
