Treasurer

The Organisation Project Numbat is an incorporated community-run charity that promotes community awareness of the numbat and assists the Numbat Recovery Program objectives including: • habitat management • population monitoring • feral predator control • education and awareness programs, and • fundraising for numbat conservation.
Project Numbat values our partnerships with the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), Perth Zoo and the Numbat Recovery Team.
Role Purpose The Treasurer is a core member of the Project Numbat Committee and is responsible for sound financial management of the organisation. This is a voluntary position, to be co-opted until the AGM in November 2026, when the individual will be invited to officially nominate for a one-year term. The Treasurer is an Executive Committee member role and will be registered as a Responsible Person with the ACNC. All Committee members are also registered with the DBCA volunteer program. Applications will be ongoing until such time as the position is filled. Start will be immediate following an informal interview and completion of National Police Certificate.
Statement of Duties The main duties of the Treasurer are: • Managing all financial accounts in Xero, with support from a bookkeeper. • Co-ordinating and processing transactions for donations, memberships, merchandise sales, events, education programs and monitoring activities. • Control and reconciliation of inventory, fixed assets and bank accounts. • Monthly reporting of financial statements and analysis to the committee. • Annual reporting with graphs and analysis for members. • Assist with organisational and project budgets and grant submissions. • Submission of returns as per legislation for charities and incorporated associations.
Selection Criteria We are seeking a positive, enthusiastic and collaborative person, ideally with the following:
- Qualifications and demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting.
- A supportive, team-oriented approach.
- Working knowledge of, or willing to learn, charity and incorporated association governance.
- Experience or interest in wildlife conservation.
