Community Connector

At Side By Side Advocacy, we believe that strong communities include everyone. A thriving community is one where every person is recognised as having equal value, where diversity is welcomed, and where everyone has opportunities to contribute, belong and participate.
For people with intellectual disability, being included in the community means much more than simply being present. It means having real relationships, making choices, having a voice, contributing to community life, and being recognised as a citizen with the same rights, responsibilities and aspirations as everyone else. It means being welcomed into neighbourhoods, workplaces, clubs, places of learning, places of worship and other everyday settings where people build connections and live ordinary lives.
People with intellectual disability continue to face barriers that can lead to exclusion, isolation and unequal treatment. That's where you come in!
We are keen to connect with citizens in the Parramatta and Ryde areas who are well connected in the local community. You will be the kind of person who is a member of a range of groups and/or clubs and who is a 'go to' person on all things local.
Your role will be to help us identify and connect with people and places in the local area so we can identify potential spaces of welcome.
Together, we will raise awareness of barriers to inclusion and work with people and organisations to remove those barriers and increase oppportunities for connection and belonging for people with intellectual disability.
It would be great if you could share some of your interests and connections when you apply.
