Role overview

• Lead the development and coordination of The FIFO Family Project’s volunteer program during an exciting expansion phase
• Work closely with the Founder to design and implement a clear, welcoming onboarding and induction process for all volunteers
• Support and manage a small but growing team of volunteers across multiple locations and remote roles
• Strengthen local community connections and brand awareness around our family, perinatal and mental health–focused events and initiatives

Key duties

• Design and document volunteer onboarding processes, including applications, screening, induction and simple role handbooks
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and placement of volunteers into roles such as events, admin, peer support, marketing and community outreach
• Provide regular communication, guidance and check-ins so volunteers feel supported, included and clear on their role
• Maintain a simple volunteer database and records of roles, hours and activities
• Plan volunteer requirements for key events and programs in collaboration with the Founder and Events and Marketing Lead
• Support volunteers across remote and local locations using online tools (email, video calls, shared documents)
• Contribute to volunteer recognition and development activities so people feel they are learning, contributing and part of a community
• Help build local awareness of The FIFO Family Project by connecting volunteers into community groups, services, perinatal networks and events

Time commitment

• Approximately 0.5-1 days per week
• Flexibility to increase hours during busy recruitment, onboarding or event periods
• All tasks can be completed remotely and flexibly around existing work, study or family responsibilities

Skills and experience

• Experience in volunteer management, coordination, people leadership or team supervision (paid or unpaid)
• Strong communication skills and an ability to build relationships across diverse communities
• Comfortable using basic digital tools (email, shared drives, online forms, video meetings)
• Organised, proactive and confident working with processes, checklists and simple systems
• An interest in community wellbeing, perinatal mental health, family support or mental health more broadly
• You do not need to be from a FIFO background – curiosity, care for families and solid coordination skills matter most
