Volunteer General Manager
This isn't a typical volunteer role. This is a genuine leadership opportunity at the helm of a growing, purpose-driven organisation.
Lifestyle Markets Australia Inc. is a registered NFP charity delivering vibrant multicultural markets, festivals, and community events across Victoria. Our work celebrates diversity and creativity — and every event we run flows back to supporting disadvantaged young people through our partner charity, Kinds of Happiness (KOH).
We're a volunteer-powered organisation that punches well above its weight. To keep growing, we need an experienced leader who can help us do that with clarity, focus, and heart.
Why This Role?
- Lead a multi-disciplinary volunteer organisation with real operational scope
- Shape strategy and culture at the highest level of a values-driven NFP
- A genuinely meaningful addition to any senior professional's portfolio
- Work alongside a passionate, dedicated team who care deeply about what they do
- Make a lasting impact on communities across Victoria — and on young lives across Australia
About the Role
As Volunteer General Manager, you'll provide steady leadership — keeping teams aligned, operations running smoothly, and our mission moving forward. You'll work closely with team leaders across seven disciplines, providing hands-on leadership, accountability, and support. This is a hands-on commitment of minimum 15 hours per week, suited to an experienced leader ready to invest meaningfully in something that matters. You'll be responsible for:
- Overseeing day-to-day operations across the full organisation
- Leading and supporting teams across 7 disciplines, each with multiple volunteers
- Keeping operations organised, accountable, and aligned with strategic goals
- Working closely with team leaders and reporting to senior leadership
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, and team performance
- Helping foster a positive, inclusive, and high-functioning volunteer culture
What We're Looking For
- 5–10 years' experience in a leadership or management role
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and make confident, considered decisions
- Strong communication skills — clear, warm, and effective across all levels
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote, volunteer environment
- A genuine passion for community, culture, and social impact
This role is ideal for a senior professional — whether currently active or recently retired — who wants to apply their leadership experience to something truly worthwhile. If you've led teams, managed operations, and want your next chapter to mean something, we'd love to talk.
