About the opportunity
Primary Purpose of the Position
Support the Central Queensland Multicultural Association (CQMA) to strengthen governance, organisational capacity and long‑term sustainability. With secure premises in place, CQMA is now focused on future planning and strategic growth. This volunteer role supports the development of a shared 5–10 year strategy and prepares the organisation to pursue future funding, infrastructure and partnership opportunities aligned to its vision for a Multicultural Hub—a culturally inclusive, multipurpose community space with sustainable revenue streams. Working alongside CQMA’s leadership, the role helps strengthen foundations and position the organisation to engage confidently with government and local stakeholders, guided by strong values of diversity, inclusion and collaboration.
The tasks and deliverables of this Assignment are:
• Facilitate development of a 5-10 year strategic plan aligned to CQMA’s vision, purpose, and values
• Clarify and document CQMA’s long-term vision, including the Multicultural Hub concept and pathways to delivery
• Strengthen governance, internal structures, and role clarity across the Board, staff, and volunteers
• Support planning for income diversification and financial sustainability, including consideration of social enterprise opportunities
• Assist CQMA to prioritise activities and manage limited capacity effectively
• Support planning for future funding, partnership, and advocacy conversations (local, state, and federal)
• Provide guidance on grant readiness and resourcing options (e.g. paid grant writing or part-time roles)
• Strengthen CQMA’s role as a community connector, including in disaster preparedness, recovery, and resilience contexts
Selection Criteria:
• Demonstrated experience in organisational development, strategic planning, or governance
• Experience working with community led, not for profit or multicultural organisations
• Strong understanding of cross-cultural and community development contexts
• Ability to work collaboratively with boards, staff, volunteers, and diverse stakeholders
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills

- 5 years professional experience in the relevant field
