Toy Library Supervisor

The Sydney Library of Things Inc.

Key Duties

  • Open and close the toy library during assigned shifts
  • Log into and operate the inventory/member management software
  • Review daily toy reservations and prepare for member pickups
  • Supervise and support two on‑duty volunteers, ensuring tasks are completed effectively
  • Assist volunteers with locating, checking out, and returning toys
  • Greet members, answer questions, and provide friendly, helpful service
  • Ensure toys are clean, complete, and ready for circulation
  • Troubleshoot minor software or equipment issues and escalate when needed
  • Maintain an organised workspace and uphold safety and cleanliness standards
  • Record shift notes and communicate updates to the Toy Library Manager

Skills & Experience Needed The following are desirable but not all are essential - a willingness to work with the team is most important:

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Comfortable using web‑based software and basic computer tools
  • Experience supervising volunteers or staff (preferred)
  • Ability to multitask in a busy, family‑friendly environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
