ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION INTERNSHIP

Thanks to a generous donor, we can offer a paid internship opportunity at Total Environment Centre aimed at aspiring young environmental advocates for 3 or 6 months, 2-3dpw, where you will work with our team of experts and learn about hand-on grassroots conservation, policy reform, advocacy, and campaigning on how to protect Australia’s environment. This will allow you to learn and implement key skills in solving environmental problems and undertaking action in a non-government organisation (NGO) for environment protection including - campaign planning, community events, media strategies, strategic research and communications with supporters.
Total Environment Centre is one of Australia’s longest established environment NGOs. Created in 1972, it has achieved over 100 green victories including protecting nature (national and wilderness parks), climate and renewable energy actions, clean air, zero waste programs and green urban space plans. We have also developed a range of campaigns, advocacy, research and communication skills, as well as constructive links to government, business, and community stakeholders. You can read our Impact Report on our website.
During 2025-26 you will be working with our plastic pollution team, in particular focussing on microplastics. Our microplastics project is a national first and will allow you to gain in-depth knowledge of the microplastics problem and what we need to do to tackle it. Our office is based in Surry Hills, Sydney, close to Central Station and the internship will be in-person.
We are now seeking applicants. We encourage candidates who experience financial barriers to take part in this internship program, read how you can apply. Application through Seek will not be accepted.
