About the opportunity
Primary Purpose of the Position
Yeppoon Women’s Refuge Foundation (YWRF) is a community‑led organisation supporting women and children escaping domestic and family violence. As the organisation works to establish a new emergency refuge, it urgently needs to strengthen its digital presence. YWRF currently has no functioning website or online donation capability, limiting visibility, fundraising, and community engagement. We’re seeking a volunteer web developer to help build a modern, secure and user‑friendly website that will support YWRF’s mission and long‑term sustainability.
The tasks and deliverables of this Assignment are:
Digital Capability Development
• Analyse current digital capability, assets, and gaps (esp. website, content, security, donation processes).
• Advise on the build and structure of a new donation-enabled, self-managed website that is inclusive and supports the specific need of women experiencing DFV.
• Provide guidance on governance, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Financial & Governance Integration
• Support YWRF to establish clear financial processes associated with online donations
• Recommend sustainable workflows for website maintenance and updating.
Organisational Strengthening
• Identify opportunities to enhance credibility, visibility, and digital engagement with supporters.
• Ensure digital systems contribute to long-term refuge readiness and DFV support capacity.
Capacity Building
• Make digital systems easy for the Board to understand, manage, and maintain (skills transfer focus).
Selection Criteria:
• Experience in website development or digital capability uplift.
• Knowledge of website security, privacy, and online donation systems.
• Understanding of small-organisation governance (desirable), financial processes, or not-for-profit digital operations.
• Ability to simplify technical concepts for a Board with varying digital skill levels.
• Experience in resilience, community organisations, or DFV-sector–related digital considerations (desirable).

- 5 years professional experience in the relevant field
- Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident residing in Australia. Australian Citizens residing overseas may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Willingness to complete a National Police Check
- Willingness to complete a Working with Children Check
