About Macedon Ranges Suicide Prevention Action Group (MRSPAG): The Macedon Ranges Suicide Prevention Action Group (MRSPAG) stands as an integral non-profit organisation, intricately weaving personal experiences, expert knowledge, and volunteer dedication into a united force against suicide in the Macedon Ranges. Driven by advocacy, education, and evidence-based strategies, MRSPAG's mission encompasses reducing suicide rates and bolstering mental well-being through community engagement and the power of collaboration. Harnessing the strengths and insights of those with lived experience, healthcare professionals, and impassioned volunteers, the group fosters a resilient, informed, and proactive community poised to confront mental health challenges and nurture a supportive network for all its members.
Role Purpose: Annually MRSPAG hosts a Walk event on World Suicide Prevention Day in September, this is an opportunity to remember those loved and lost to suicide and as a beacon of hope to those who live with mental illness and suicidal thinking. This is a pet-friendly event, with music, speeches, and a walk of the Woodend township. The Events Coordinator is a key volunteer role that involves planning, organising, and managing of this event for MRSPAG.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute the 2024 Walk event from conception through to completion.
- Liaise with vendors, stakeholders, and volunteers to ensure event success.
- Develop event budgets and manage financials to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with the Communications team for the promotion and publicity of events.
- Manage all event logistics, ensuring each event runs smoothly and to plan.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A well-organised individual with excellent project management skills.
- Someone who can handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
- A creative problem-solver with the ability to think on their feet.
Preferred Qualities:
- Proven experience in event planning and management.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
- Detail-oriented with a capability to manage budgets and resources.
- Flexibility to work on the weekend for the running of the event. Additional Information: The role requires a passionate and driven individual who can commit to MRSPAG’s cause and engage the community through memorable events.
