About the Role As our organisation continues to expand, it has become necessary to secure the services of a highly skilled executive based in Victoria to take up the position of volunteer CEO and lead Beyond Words - the Biography Program into the future. Working closely with our Board, the CEO will champion the implementation of our strategic plan to ensure the sustainable delivery of our free biography service to older people living in Aged Care Residences. In this newly created position, you will oversee the management of our organisation’s finances and budget, program delivery, stakeholder engagement as well as provide leadership to paid staff and direct-report volunteers. You will represent the organisation as an advocate and spokesperson with media, philanthropic foundations, major donors and corporate partners. This part time role is ideally suited to a retired or semi-retired, visionary senior executive with a proven track record in leadership (CEO, GM, or Director level), who is seeking a purposeful and rewarding opportunity. This is a flexible, remote-work position, with scope to tailor the role and hours to the right candidate. Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership & Governance: • Board Collaboration: Work with the Board of Management to execute our 3-year strategic plan, provide leadership and advice. • Advocacy: Your strong advocacy skills will be an invaluable asset to ensure the future success of our organisation. • Ability to leave a lasting legacy through values-driven leadership, guiding a committed team of staff and volunteers to deliver enduring social impact. • Regulatory Compliance: Provide oversight of our operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Operational Oversight: You will oversee and direct our operations, budget and finances and supervise paid staff and direct-report volunteers to ensure the quality of the biography process, engagement and satisfaction of our highly-valued volunteers and external stakeholders.
  3. Strategic Advocacy: In collaboration with the Board and fundraising committee, represent the organisation as spokesperson and advocate for media interviews, with philanthropic foundations, major donors and corporate partners.
  4. Fundraising Work with our fundraising committee in the development of diverse funding streams and to identify, pitch, and secure corporate partnerships and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) partnerships. About You • Proven track record in senior executive leadership (CEO, GM, or Director level), • High emotional intelligence, resilience, and a profound respect for the wisdom and dignity of older people. • Desirable: Familiarity with the Aged Care industry or willingness to learn the social landscape of residential care.
