Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator is a new role focused on formalising and strengthening how we work with our volunteers, from the moment someone first expresses interest, right through to becoming an experienced Harvest Leader. A big part of this role is building things that don't yet exist: onboarding materials, training resources, volunteer agreements, and policies that reflect our values. This is a genuine opportunity to create something from the ground up. Growing the number of Harvest Leaders we have is one of the most important things we can do to increase our impact, and it's a central focus of this role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing volunteer onboarding materials, training resources, volunteer agreements, and policies
- Leading targeted recruitment efforts to grow the number of Harvest Leaders, the single biggest lever for increasing how much fruit we can harvest
- Managing the end-to-end experience for new volunteers, from first contact through to first harvest
- Ensuring volunteers feel genuinely valued and recognised for their contribution
- Maintaining volunteer records in our CRM system
- Supporting impact reporting by tracking volunteer hours and community connection outcomes
Practical Details
- Performed remotely from home; Adelaide-based preferred
- Flexible scheduling across the week
- Police check required — cost covered by Fruit Share Adelaide
- Volunteer role with a pathway to a paid position as funding develops
What We're Looking For
- Warm, people-centred communication style
- Experience or strong interest in developing policies, procedures, or training materials
- Organised and able to manage multiple relationships and schedules
- Comfortable with digital tools and databases
- Passionate about community, sustainability, and reducing food waste
If you love connecting with people and want to help build something meaningful, this is the role for you. Submit an expression of interest today and help us grow the team that grows the harvest!
