Volunteer Coordinator

We are looking for someone who loves wombats and has flexible availability, great people skills, basic office experience and is comfortable presenting to groups online and in person.
The Volunteer Coordinator role is to assist with recruitment, induction & training of new volunteers, and ongoing training and support for existing volunteers as well as presentations to other small external groups.
In-field experience treating wombats will be provided and proximity to trainers in the North East of Melbourne is essential.
Key duties:
- Respond to incoming in-field volunteering offers
- Advertise for new volunteers as needed
- Assess applicant’s abilities in relation to the needs of the organisation (in consultation with Administration Manager)
- Interview applicants (usually by phone) and provide them with information about the role
- Forward training information to prospective volunteers
- Process new volunteer registrations including updating all spreadsheets and training enrolment
- Oversee integration of new volunteers, provide general induction training, liaise and support them in their initial treatment cases
- Liaise with volunteers on an ongoing basis to ensure they’re happy and have what they need to do their job.
- Answer questions from volunteers regarding treatment for specific or difficult cases
- Issue email updates to volunteers as required
- Conduct on-line training sessions for new in-field volunteers
- Conduct hands on training sessions for new in-field volunteers
- Present informational and educational talks to small to medium groups
