Social Media Assistant

About Rotary Hawthorn:
Rotary Hawthorn is a vibrant community service Not-For Profit Club, part of Rotary International, and dedicated to making a positive impact in the local and international community through a range of projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and assist in managing Rotary Hawthorn’s social media strategy across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and the Club website.
- A team member of volunteers on the Communications Committee that reports to the Board
- Create, curate, and schedule engaging content including posts, images, videos, and stories that highlight Rotary Hawthorn’s activities and community impact.
- Manage and grow the club’s online community by actively responding to comments, messages, and inquiries.
- Collaborate with Rotary Hawthorn members and project leaders to gather news, stories, and media for content creation.
- Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize content strategy and report on engagement and reach.
- Assist in drafting and distributing email newsletters, press releases, and other communications materials as needed.
- Support branding consistency and promote the Rotary values across all communications.
- Coordinate with other volunteers and external media as needed to maximize publicity for events and initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in marketing, media and communications or similar.
- Experience in social media management and digital content creation.
- Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and scheduling/analytics tools (e.g., Canva and Facebook Insights).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a volunteer environment.
- Passion for community service and alignment with Rotary’s mission and values.
- Basic graphic design or video editing skills are a plus but not essential.
