Do you care about animals, justice, and using your skills for something that actually matters?

Stop Live Exports is preparing for the next phase of our national advocacy and campaigning work, and we’re keen to expand our committee with people who want to help support and shape the rollout of future campaigns to end live animal export.

We’re looking for advocates who care deeply about animal welfare and want to contribute their thinking, experience and perspective to a movement that is building momentum.

You don’t need to be an expert, a campaigner, or a policy wonk. You just need:

  • A good head
  • A good heart
  • And the willingness to contribute thoughtfully to a cause bigger than yourself.

Our committee is made up of people from across Australia who bring different skills, experiences, and perspectives, and who believe animals deserve better.

As a volunteer committee member, you might:

  • Contribute ideas and perspective at bi-monthly committee meetings
  • Support strategy around advocacy, communications, fundraising or governance
  • Help sense-check decisions and keep us focused on impact
  • Occasionally assist with small pieces of work aligned to your skills or interests

This is not a heavy operational role, it’s about guidance, ideas, and helping steer the organisation in the right direction.

By joining the SLE Committee, you’ll:

  • Be part of a nationally recognised animal protection organisation
  • Contribute to real policy, regulatory and social change
  • Gain experience in charity governance and advocacy strategy
  • Work alongside passionate, values-driven people
  • Build networks across animal welfare, campaigning, media and policy
  • Know that your time is directly contributing to reducing animal suffering

Most importantly, you’ll be able to say you were part of the movement that helped bring an end to live export.

By joining our committee, you are helping:

  • Expose cruelty in Australia’s live export trade
  • Strengthen advocacy for animal welfare reform
  • Support campaigns that influence public opinion and government decision-making
  • Build a future where animals are no longer treated as disposable commodities

This is meaningful, values-aligned work - and it matters.

Location Australia-wide. All meetings are held online.

How to apply

To express your interest, please email info@stopliveexports.com with:

  • A short statement (around 200 words) explaining why you’d like to join the committee
  • Any relevant experience or perspective you’d bring

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and strongly encourage diversity of experience and thinking.
