About Invisible Injuries

Invisible Injuries is an Australian not-for-profit charity supporting the mental health and wellbeing of veterans, first responders, and their support networks through trauma-informed, peer-led programs.

Our work focuses on connection, regulation, and practical tools that support long-term wellbeing. Volunteers play a vital role in helping our programs run smoothly and in creating positive experiences for those who attend.

About the Role

We are seeking General Volunteers to support the delivery of our in-person programs and community events.

This role is ideal for people who want to contribute practically, meet like-minded people, and support meaningful mental health initiatives. No specialist skills or prior experience are required.

What You’ll Help With

  • Depending on the program or event, you may assist with:
  • Program or event set-up and pack-down
  • Participant check-in and general support
  • Light logistics and coordination
  • Supporting facilitators during sessions (non-clinical)
  • Helping create a calm, respectful, and welcoming environment

You will not be expected to provide counselling, therapy, or clinical support.

Skills & Experience

  • No formal experience is required. Helpful qualities include:

  • Willingness to help and be part of a team

  • Reliability and clear communication

  • Respect for confidentiality and boundaries

  • Interest in mental health, wellbeing, or community support

  • You do not need to be a veteran or first responder to volunteer.

  • Commitment

  • Flexible and based on availability

  • Often event-based or short shifts

  • Opportunities may be available on weekdays or occasional weekends

  • You can volunteer as often or as little as suits your circumstances.

Location & Flexibility

Volunteers from any state or territory are welcome. Many roles can be supported online or remotely, while some opportunities may involve in-person programs depending on location and availability. This will be discussed during the EOI process.

Impact of This Role

Your support helps ensure programs run smoothly and that veterans and first responders feel welcomed, supported, and respected when attending. Even small contributions make a meaningful difference to participant experience.

How to Apply

Submit an Expression of Interest via SEEK Volunteer. We’ll be in touch to discuss availability and upcoming opportunities.
