Specialist Volunteer – Program & Content Support

About Invisible Injuries
Invisible Injuries is an Australian not-for-profit charity supporting the mental health and wellbeing of veterans, first responders, and their support networks through trauma-informed, peer-led programs.
Our work focuses on prevention, regulation, connection, and practical tools that support long-term wellbeing. We deliver structured programs as well as “Come Try” initiatives that help people reconnect with themselves and their communities in accessible ways.
About the Role
We are seeking Specialist Volunteers to contribute professional, facilitation, creative, or advisory expertise that supports our programs and content.
This role is designed for people who want to contribute skills rather than general event support, with clear scope, boundaries, and flexibility. All specialist involvement is discussed and agreed in advance, based on organisational needs and volunteer availability.
This is a non-clinical, volunteer role.
Areas You May Contribute
Depending on your background and interests, contributions may include:
- Yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, or movement support (non-clinical)
- Program or session development support
- “Come Try” activity support or facilitation input
- Content writing or article contributions
- Review or advisory input on wellbeing materials
- Professional or lived-experience insights to strengthen program quality
Specialist contributions are scoped and supported — volunteers are not expected to deliver therapy or clinical services.
Location & Flexibility
Volunteers from any state or territory are welcome. Many roles can be supported online or remotely, while some opportunities may involve in-person programs depending on location and availability. This will be discussed during the EOI process.
Skills & Experience (Preferred)
You don’t need to meet every criterion. Helpful experience may include:
- Experience in wellbeing, movement, mindfulness, or facilitation
- Allied health, psychology, education, or community experience (non-clinical)
- Writing, content development, or advisory experience
- Strong communication and ethical awareness
- Alignment with trauma-informed, preventative approaches
Commitment
- Flexible and negotiated
- Project-based or ongoing
- Typically 1–4 hours per week, depending on scope
Impact of This Role
Your expertise helps strengthen the quality, credibility, and reach of mental health and wellbeing programs that support veterans and first responders. By contributing your skills, you help ensure our work remains ethical, grounded, and sustainable.
