Help shape the future of brain tumour care and advocacy – join the BTAA Board

Every year, thousands of Australians are affected by brain tumours. Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA) is the national peak advocacy body for brain tumour patients, caregivers, and advocates. Our mission is to unite and strengthen the voices of the brain tumour community to drive better outcomes for all affected.

BTAA is moving to a new governance model that reflects its growing role as the national peak advocacy body for brain tumours. We are seeking volunteer Board members to help guide our strategic direction, strengthen governance, and drive positive change for the brain tumour community.

About BTAA

Brain Tumour Alliance Australia unites and strengthens the voices of the brain tumour community to drive better outcomes for all affected. As the peak brain tumour advocacy body, we

  • support, inform, and represent people living with brain tumours, their families, care givers, and the professionals who care for them
  • connect people, organisations, and government to foster collaboration and build awareness
  • educate the community and inform decision-makers to shape policy and better outcomes

BTAA is transitioning to a refreshed governance model to reflect its growth and evolving role. We are now seeking a diverse, skilled Board to guide this next phase and ensure the organisation’s sustainability and impact.

What we are looking for

BTAA is seeking volunteer Board members to help guide our strategic direction, strengthen governance, and drive positive change for the brain tumour community. Our Board members will bring expertise, lived experience and a commitment to our mission. Skills in one or more of the following areas would be highly valued:

  • Fundraising, partnerships, or philanthropy
  • Financial management, governance, or legal
  • Government relations and advocacy
  • Communications, marketing, or media
  • Consumer and lived experience leadership

Previous Board or committee experience is helpful but not essential.

What's involved

BTAA’s Board members

  • Attend 4–6 Board meetings per year (mostly online)
  • Contribute to BTAA sub-committees
  • Serve a 2–3-year term

Why join us? Join a collaborative, values-driven Board shaping the future of brain cancer advocacy in Australia.
