Volunteer Treasurer – Babirra Music Theatre Inc. Babirra Music Theatre Inc. is a passionate community-based organisation dedicated to producing high-quality musical theatre. For 70 years, Babirra has been a cornerstone of Melbourne’s performing arts scene, creating opportunities for performers, creatives, and volunteers to share their talents. We are looking for a committed and proactive Treasurer to join our Committee of Management and play a vital role in ensuring our financial sustainability and governance.
Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare annual and production budgets in collaboration with creative teams.

- Maintain accurate financial records, including receipts, payments, and reconciliations.

- Collect membership and participation fees, and manage banking.

- Liaise with auditors and prepare statutory financial reports.

- Ensure compliance with taxation requirements (including BAS) and insurance renewals.

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic goals.

- Assist with fundraising and sponsorship initiatives by managing budgets and reporting outcomes.
Skills & Attributes:
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles; experience with financial software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) preferred.
- Understanding of not-for-profit compliance requirements (GST, ACNC, Consumer Affairs).
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate financial information clearly.
- Honest, reliable, and proactive with a passion for community arts.
Time Commitment:
- Approx. 1–2 hours per week, with additional time during production budgeting and reporting periods.
