Keyboard Tutor

CCA NSW is seeking a volunteer Keyboard Tutor to run a small-group or individual keyboard session once a fortnight. The sessions will be held on Mondays from 9:00 AM to 10:20 AM, from 2 February 2026 to 29 June 2026, in West Ryde. The tutor will support participants with basic keyboard skills, rhythm, and simple music pieces, adapting sessions to suit varying abilities.
Key Duties
- Teach basic keyboard skills in a supportive and inclusive manner
- Prepare simple lesson plans appropriate for beginner-level learners
- Encourage participation, confidence, and enjoyment of music
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment
- Liaise with CCA NSW staff as needed regarding session progress
Skills and Experience Needed
- Ability to play keyboard at a basic to intermediate level.
- Experience teaching or mentoring (formal or informal) is desirable
- Patience, empathy, and good communication skills
- Ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds
- Reliability and commitment for the program duration
- Formal teaching qualifications are not required—enthusiasm and willingness to share skills are most important.
