About the organisation
Street Side Medics is a not-for-profit GP led organisation, providing a free mobile medical service to those experiencing homelessness and tough times.
The team on the ground each week are all volunteers and include GPs, other medical specialists, junior doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other medical and non-medical super stars. The clinics operate from vans with full medical fit outs, and work in conjunction with other homeless services 6 days a week at 13 different locations across New South Wales and Victoria.
Our clinics are located at: Waterloo (Thursday Day Clinic) Manly (Monday Night) Woolloomooloo (Tuesday Night) Surry Hills (Wednesday Night) Marrickville (Wednesday Night) Hornsby (Thursday Night) Wollongong (Thursday Night) Blacktown (Saturday Afternoon) Paramatta (Sunday Afternoon) St Kilda (Wednesday Afternoon) Melbourne CBD (Thursday afternoon) Dandenong (Friday morning).
About this opportunity
We are recruiting Doctors and or Medical Specialists (PGY2+) for the newest Street Side Medics Clinic Based at the Salvation Army’s Newcastle Worship and Community Centre in Hamilton. The clinic will operate every Friday, from 10am to 12 noon (approximate). The clinic will run alongside the Salvation Army’s community lunch and Orange Sky, who provide a free laundry service.
You will volunteer as a Medical Support Officer (MSO), if you are a General Practitioner please apply via the GP Volunteer Role # 236019. The key objective of the MSO is to support the GP on roster by distributing the workload of the medical team and allowing for the smooth running of the clinic. Your role will include completing the initial assessment of a patient who has requested to see a doctor. This may include passing the patient onto a GP or completing the consult after initial consultation if within your scope.
NB Please note the organisation will be closed between 19 December until January 5 and will respond on their return.
