As Treasurer at Mum Walk Australia, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role in strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of one of Australia’s fastest-growing mum-led community organisations. Your work will help us continue delivering safe, supportive and free weekly walks for thousands of mums nationwide.

About the Role As Treasurer, you are a key part of Mum Walk’s leadership team and responsible for the ongoing financial stewardship of the organisation. You will oversee our bookkeeping, support the development and execution of our financial sustainability strategy, and ensure we meet all ACNC-related governance and reporting requirements.

Working closely with the Founder/CEO, Secretary and Committee members, the Treasurer provides trusted financial oversight, helps shape organisational strategy, prepares budgets, and ensures transparent and compliant financial management. Your work supports Mum Walk in making informed decisions as we continue to rapidly scale across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership & Governance
• Advocate for Mum Walk’s financial sustainability and responsible spending.
• Provide financial advice to the Committee and contribute to organisational decision-making.
• Lead the preparation of annual budgets and financial plans.
• Ensure compliance with ACNC and other reporting obligations (including annual information statements and financial summaries).
• Bookkeeping & Day-to-Day Management
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records (Xero or equivalent).
• Oversee monthly bookkeeping, reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable.
• Monitor walk-related expenses, donations, grants, and community contributions.
• Ensure correct classifications for revenue (donations, sponsorships, grants).

Financial Administration

• Oversee banking processes and maintain secure account access protocols.
• Support the management of grants, acquittals and financial components of partnerships.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the Committee, including cashflow updates.
• Support development of financial policies that ensure transparency and safety.

Strategic Sustainability

• Work with the Founder/CEO to build a long-term financial sustainability and fundraising strategy.
• Support budgeting for new programs, new walk launches, and national expansion.
• Contribute to funding proposals and partnership models.

Governance Participation

Attend quarterly Committee meetings and quarterly strategy sessions. Fulfil Treasurer duties as set out in the Mum Walk Australia Constitution.

Key Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping, financial management, accounting or financial governance.
• Experience in or understanding of not-for-profit requirements, including ACNC reporting and compliance.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence managing day-to-day financial activity (banking, invoicing, reconciliations).
• Ability to dedicate approx. 6–10 hours per month to the role.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present financial information clearly.
• Alignment with Mum Walk’s mission to reduce isolation and support mums through community, movement and connection.
