At Side By Side Advocacy, we believe that good communities are made up of all people.

Currently, many people with intellectual disability have limited opportunities to explore everyday community opportunities in their local area. Many are lonely and do not have contact with family. The only people in their lives are paid supporters.

We want to change that.

World affairs can make us feel powerless but volunteering with an initiative of Side By Side Advocacy called Community for Everyone will allow you to make a concrete difference in your community.

• We would meet you and get to know your interests and what you like to do in your local area.
• You would receive some training about the life experience of many people with intellectual disability, barriers to inclusion and information to assist in overcoming those barriers.
• We would match you with a person with intellectual disability who is keen to explore their interests in their local community.
• You would assist in facilitating connection and belonging.

There are regular meet ups for volunteers with the project.
