Volunteer Coordinator

Bassendean Preservation Group

We're a volunteer-run community group that's been working on bush regeneration in Bassendean for 40 years. We propagate local native plants in our Ascot nursery and plant them in remnant bushland around town.

The Role

We need someone to coordinate our volunteers. Right now this work is scattered across committee members who already have other roles to fill. It needs its own person.

You'd be responsible for:

  • Recruitment - talking to interested people, making sure we're visible and welcoming, keeping volunteer records up to date

  • Member administration - managing the records that support our membership system

  • Town liaison - being the main contact with Town of Bassendean staff for bushcare work on their land

This comes with a committee position, so you'd be involved in organisational decisions and attend meetings.

What the Work Actually Looks Like

Day-to-day, you're handling emails, maintaining spreadsheets, following up with people who've expressed interest, coordinating schedules, and occasionally interfacing with local government. It's administrative work with a community focus.

The reason it matters: without consistent volunteer coordination, participation drops off and we lose capacity to do the actual bush regeneration work.

What we're looking for:

Someone organised who's comfortable managing information and working with people - both volunteers and bureaucrats.
You don't need to know anything about native plants (though you'll learn),
but you should be able to keep systems running and people engaged.
