About the Association

The Eastwood-Macquarie District Association is the local organisation representing the suburbs of Eastwood, Marsfield, and Macquarie Park. Our core objective is to unite and collectivise the local community. Our mission is to stimulate social, economic and political change. Our purpose is to protect the wellbeing of residents and their families, combat social isolation and loneliness, provide opportunities for local businesses to thrive, and to ensure the voice of our community is heard by those in power. Our aim is to organise the community through grassroots events and activities, to build relationships between local residents, businesses, workers, and students alike.

Our People

We are building a large team of ambitious individuals who are capable of leading and steering the continuous growth of the district association. Our team consists of students, professionals, and retirees, with skills in law, finance, and public policy. We meet weekly to pass motions that direct the association’s operations, and spend 2-3 hours per week implementing the goals set in those meetings.

Our Public Affairs Department

Our Public Affairs Department will shape the image of a community organisation representing the needs of Eastwood-Macquarie residents. Not only does the department act as the public face of the EMDA, but will regularly engage with the community through direct outreach to ensure that local voices remain the centre of our organisation. Our public affairs team also takes the lead in directing media and communications engagement.

As deputy president, you will carry out the functions of both a public affairs officer and a directional role. Your role will involve:

Public Engagement Reaching out to other community groups such as schools and seniors associations to ensure their voices are reflected in the EMDA's vision.

Strategy Development Develop public affairs strategy to engage local residents in our cause and shape the future of the Association.

Marketing Oversight Lead the marketing and communications strategy of the EMDA and have directional capacity over the organisation's image.

You

We are looking for a driven and proactive individual who is not afraid to take charge and develop new relationships. Other qualities you will need are:

Hybrid Role Your role involves both collaborative and individual organisation and research, therefore it is critical that you are comfortable working both remotely and in-person.

Commitment This role involves your time, which we truly value. As a new team, we are looking for genuinely passionate individuals.
