About Us Moonah House is a purpose-driven, community-based organisation creating a crisis shelter for women and their children escaping domestic and family violence on the southern Mornington Peninsula. In partnership with Women’s Community Shelters (WCS) — a proven national model that has successfully opened twelve shelters in NSW — we’re working to bring this vital service to our region by 2026.
The Role We’re seeking volunteer Board Directors to help guide Moonah House through its next exciting phase — from fundraising and property acquisition to policy development and community engagement. You’ll join a passionate team of professionals who have already: • Secured local support and partnerships • Achieved ACNC registration and DGR charity status • Established a strong foundation for the shelter’s launch in 2026 This is a chance to roll up your sleeves, use your professional networks, and see the direct impact of your contribution.
We’re Looking for Volunteers with Skills In: • Fundraising, Grants & Philanthropy • Technology, Communications & Marketing (including social media) • Housing / Property / Trades • Governance & Compliance • Human Resources & Organisational Development Board Members also lead or participate in committees to deliver practical outcomes and strengthen the organisation’s impact.

What’s Involved: • Eight Board meetings per year (in person or via video) • Monthly committee meetings • Attendance at community and fundraising events • An initial three-year term commencing late 2025 / early 2026 These are voluntary positions with a meaningful purpose — contributing your expertise to shape a lasting legacy for women and children on the Mornington Peninsula.
