Ordinary Board Member - Berkeley Vale

Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre operates three vibrant community centres, including two Neighbourhood Centres and an Out of School Hours Care. We’re at the heart of the community, supporting people doing it tough – with food relief needs up 400% due to the cost-of-living and rental crisis. We also run essential programs for children, families, and community groups.
As a Board Member, you’ll be part of a dedicated team helping guide our work, support our management team, and ensure accountability to our funding bodies, including the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
What You’ll Do
As an Ordinary Board Member, your responsibilities will include:
*Actively participating in monthly Board meetings (held on the third Thursday of each month at 1pm)
*Staying informed about programs and operations
*Contributing to discussions and decisions that guide the organisation’s direction
*Representing the organisation publicly when requested by the Board
*Participating in or chairing subcommittees or working groups as needed
*Signing documents and exercising delegated authority where appropriate
You will work closely with other Board Members, centre managers, and our incredible volunteers.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:
*Has a strong sense of social justice and commitment to community wellbeing
*Is willing to work collaboratively and constructively as part of a governance team
*Can offer time, energy, and ideas to support our mission and goals
*Understands (or is willing to learn about) the responsibilities of governance and compliance
Previous board or committee experience is welcomed but not essential. What matters most is your passion and willingness to contribute.
By volunteering on our Board, you’ll be making a meaningful impact on your community. You’ll help guide programs and services that directly support vulnerable families, children, and individuals across Berkeley Vale and surrounding areas.
This is a great opportunity to give back, build your skills in governance and community leadership, and be part of a caring, values-driven organisation.
