Diesel Mechanic

Want to make a difference with your volunteering, preserving maritime history while spending your time with a great team in a friendly environment? Sydney Heritage Fleet is a volunteer organisation dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels which include Tall Ship James Craig, 1912 K-class ferry Kanangra, coastal steamship John Oxley, 1902 steam tug Waratah, 1902 VIP launch Lady Hopetoun, 1903 schooner Boomerang, Tugs and several diesel motor launches.
You will be an experienced Diesel Mechanic, and enjoy the challenge of joining our strong volunteer workshop team to maintain our two tug boats, as well as the motor launches. You are invited to join the team in our well-equipped workshop. The tug boats play a vital part in moving our vessels around the harbour. Our motor launches are used for regular passenger work. Familiarity with Detroit and Gardner diesels would be a great advantage.
We are based in Rozelle Bay, not far from the light rail and buses. On your first day you will receive a cheerful welcome, safety orientation training and a guided tour of our work centres.
The Sydney Heritage Fleet is a partner in the Australian Government Jobseeker program, so if you fit their criteria and are suitable for roles that SHF need filled, you may be able to work in our dynamic teams and continue on Jobseeker support.
The many benefits of volunteering with SHF include learning new skills or sharpening your existing skills, meeting new friends and finding purpose and personal fulfilment. Interested? Apply online now with information about you under "interests, skills & qualifications"
