Peer Support Program Volunteer (Toowoomba)

Little Dreamers is on a mission to make life better for Young Carers across the country, and we need YOU to help make it happen!
We are looking for 2 amazing volunteers to assist in the running of an Arts and Crafts Peer Support Program for Young Carers aged 8 - 15. We need your help to create an exciting and supportive environment for Young Carers to connect, share their stories, and build lifelong friendships.
Being a Young Carer isn’t always easy. While these young heroes develop skills like compassion, intelligence, and maturity, the weight of their caring role can often lead to feelings of isolation. That’s where the Peer Support Program comes in! We’re creating a fun and safe space for these young people to come together, share experiences, and find the support they need to thrive.
Your Key Role:
As a Peer Support Leader, you’ll be part of a dynamic team, working alongside a Little Dreamers staff member to facilitate weekly sessions and explore themes like:
- Building Connections
- Finding Community
- Creating Meaning in the Moment
- Discovering Purpose
What You’ll Need:
To join our team, you’ll need to:
- Complete our Little Dreamers online training (it’s quick and easy!)
- Get a Working With Children Check
- Complete a National Police Check
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for volunteers who are:
- Engaging & Friendly: Peer Support Leaders need to be able to connect with young people in a positive, non-judgmental way.
- Relationship Builders: You’ll need to foster a supportive, trusting atmosphere with the Young Carers and share personal experiences to create meaningful connections.
- Relatable & Empathetic: Share your insights into overcoming challenges and build understanding with those who face similar struggles.
- Ethical & Trustworthy: You’ll be working with vulnerable young people, so we need someone who knows when to seek support and who can be trusted to behave with integrity.
- Self-Aware & Supportive: Understanding your strengths and weaknesses is key – and it’s okay to ask for help!
- Wellbeing Champions: You’ll be a role model for self-care and wellbeing, offering tips and strategies for young people to stay healthy and positive.
- Open-Minded & Inclusive: We celebrate diversity and are looking for someone who can connect with people from all backgrounds. Bonus points for speaking another language!
Why Join Us?
This is an incredible opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Young Carers while developing your own skills and experience in facilitation, working with young people, and building your personal and professional growth. You’ll be part of a supportive, passionate community of volunteers who are dedicated to helping others and having fun along the way.
If you’re ready to make an impact and be part of something truly special, we’d love to hear from you!
