Make-A-Wish - Volunteer Wish Granting Coordinator - Central Coast

Make-A-Wish Australia

Logo for Make-A-Wish Australia

Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We work with sick kids, their families and medical teams to grant unforgettable wishes – like making unicorns fly, sending kids to the moon to and even helping Australia's youngest ever cricket captain don the baggy green!

The friendly team at the Central Coast Team are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join Make-A-Wish as their Volunteer Wish Granting Coordinator. By sharing your time and skills, you can help Australian children experiencing life-threatening illnesses. Please note that this role will be short-term, with a possibility of extension or possibly moving into another leadership role. However, even once the Wish Granting Coordinator responsibilities finish, the volunteer will stay in the Central Coast Team to continue granting amazing wishes.

As the Volunteer Wish Granting Coordinator, your main focus will be to ensure all Wish Journeys within your team are granted with the highest level of excellence in a caring, timely efficient manner. You will achieve this by:

  • Coordinating Wish Teams to attend home visits, capturing a child's cherished wish and helping bring the wish to life
  • Motivating and encouraging fellow volunteers to participate as needed, understanding the time sensitive nature
  • Working closely with the Melbourne-based Wish Services Team
  • Raising awareness in your local community

When you volunteer in your local branch, you'll become part of the #WishForce helping children who are fighting serious illnesses by:

  • Getting active in your local branch meetings every month
  • Helping local wish families by capturing their child’s unique wish and bringing it to life through all stages of the Wish Journey.

Before submitting your interest to become a volunteer, it's important for you to please consider the following key requirements of a Branch Volunteer:

  • A commitment of at least 12 months as a Branch volunteer to align with the Wish Journey. The Wish Granting Coordinator role may not be available for that period of time, as that may be a short-term role with possibility of extension, however we ask all volunteers, regardless of role, to commit to at least 12 months.
  • A comprehensive background check, including interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check and a background check through our preferred provider.
  • All volunteers must complete online induction training when they become a volunteer
  • Regular attendance at Branch meetings on a weekday evening once a month.
  • The ability to travel to wishes, events and meetings, so volunteers must have access to reliable transport.

There are few experiences more powerful than helping make a wish come true. Together, we have helped countless local families through fundraising, events and wish-related activities.
