Make-A-Wish - Volunteer Wish Granting Coordinator - Central Coast

Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We work with these kids and their families to grant unforgettable wishes – like making unicorns fly, sending kids to the moon to and even helping Australia's youngest ever cricket captain don the baggy green!
The friendly team at the Central Coast Branch are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join Make-A-Wish as their volunteer Wish Granting Coordinator.
As the volunteer Wish Granting Coordinator your main focus will be to ensure all Wish Journeys are granted with the highest level of excellence in a caring, timely and efficient manner. You will achieve this by:
- Coordinating volunteer wish teams to attend home visits and online calls, capturing a child's cherished wish and helping bring their unique wish to life.
- Motivating and encouraging fellow volunteers to participate in wishes, and ensuring they are engaged and responsive throughout the wish journey.
- Ensure volunteers follow all Make-A-Wish policies and procedures when working with wish children and their families.
In addition to the above responsibilities of the volunteer Wish Granting Coordinator, you’ll also be part of the volunteer team helping children who are fighting serious illnesses by:
- Attending your branch meetings on a weekday evening once a month.
- Helping local wish families by capturing their child’s unique wish and bringing it to life through different stages of the Wish Journey.
- Supporting fundraising and events, from trivia nights and sausage sizzles to gala balls and bake-offs. *Please note that events vary by branch location. *
- Raising awareness and support in your local community, helping drive our reach and impact to achieve our mission.
Before proceeding, please consider the following key requirements of a volunteer:
- Must be 18 years of age or over.
- Commit to at least 12 months as a volunteer to ensure consistency for wish children and their families.
- Complete a comprehensive background check, including interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check (or equivalent for your State/Territory) and a National Background Check.
- Complete comprehensive online induction training within the first 6 weeks, so at least a basic level of technical skill is required, plus access to a personal email and a suitable device, such as a laptop.
- Attend branch meetings on a weekday evening once a month.
- Have access to reliable transport to attend meetings, wishes and fundraising events.
