Volunteer Program Coordinator

The Art Sanctuary Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating a space for healing, creativity, and connection with nature. Rooted in community values and cultural reverence, our mission is to support wellbeing through nature care, the arts, and compassionate service.

We are seeking a highly organised, people-focused Volunteer Program Coordinator to co-lead our growing volunteer network. This is a job-share position, ideal for someone passionate about community engagement, land stewardship, and the power of service in uplifting people and place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the volunteer experience, from recruitment and induction to rostering, support and recognition
  • Build a strong culture of trust and care through regular communication, active listening, and follow-through on commitments
  • Facilitate and monitor training programs, including induction, on-site coaching, and ongoing learning (e.g. WHS, environmental stewardship, cultural awareness)
  • Support volunteer rostering and scheduling via the volunteer management app (or other tools as adopted)
  • Act as a key point of contact for volunteers, proactively identifying and resolving issues in a compassionate and constructive manner
  • Collaborate with project leads (e.g. Cow Care, Events, Gardens, Art Programs) to align volunteer capacity with evolving organisational needs
  • Support compliance and wellbeing across all activities in line with Work Health & Safety (WHS) and duty of care standards

About You

  • Experienced in coordinating or supervising volunteers, casual staff, or community teams
  • Skilled in communication, particularly in building positive relationships and facilitating feedback loops
  • Organised and calm under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and problem-solve
  • Experienced in delivering or coordinating training programs, especially in community or informal settings
  • Comfortable with using digital tools (e.g. rostering apps, communication platforms)
  • A team player who thrives in mission-led, dynamic environments with changing needs

Essential Criteria

Please address the following in your application:

  • Experience in volunteer coordination or community-based program support
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, flexibly and with cultural sensitivity
  • Experience managing rostering, compliance, and basic training programs
  • Understanding of volunteer rights and safety responsibilities

Desirable

  • Qualifications or training in volunteer management, HR, or training and assessment
  • Experience working in environmental conservation, cultural arts, or not-for-profit organisations
  • Familiarity with cow conservation, land care, or healing through nature-based service is highly regarded
