ABOUT COMMONKIND

Commonkind is a community-driven charity that empowers young Australians to create a kinder and more connected Australia. We provide benevolent relief to people and communities suffering from poverty, disadvantage and distress through age-appropriate community service activities for children, families and other interested parties. Our vision is simple but powerful: a world where kindness is common.

Key Duties As our volunteer Grant Writer, you will:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with our mission and programs
  • Write compelling, persuasive grant applications and funding proposals
  • Collaborate with the team to gather program data, budgets, and community impact stories
  • Track application deadlines and maintain a grant calendar
  • Assist with reporting requirements for successful grants (narratives, outcomes, budgets)

Skills & Experience We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to funders
  • Experience in grant writing, proposal development, or persuasive writing (non-profit experience is an advantage but not essential)
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Research and organisational skills
  • A passion for making a difference in communities

Benefits of Volunteering with Us

  • Flexible, remote role you can fit around your schedule
  • Use your writing and research skills to create real-world impact
  • Be part of a warm, supportive team that values collaboration
  • Build experience in non-profit grant writing and fundraising
  • Gain satisfaction knowing your words directly translate into funding for kindness

Impact of Your Contribution Your grant writing will directly help Commonkind:

  • Secure essential funding to sustain and expand our programs
  • Support vulnerable communities with food, connection, and care
  • Provide opportunities for children, young people, and older adults to thrive together
  • Grow a movement of kindness with lasting, measurable impact

Your words will literally open doors for communities in need.
