Join HeartKids as a Volunteer at Two Feet & A HeartBeat: Help Support People Impacted by Childhood-Onset Heart Disease (CoHD)
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? HeartKids is calling on committed volunteers to join our team and support those impacted by childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD), a lifelong condition with unique challenges.
Every day in Australia, eight babies are born with CoHD, and sadly, 4 young lives are lost each week. With an estimated 250,000 families currently affected nationwide, the need for support continues to grow.
At HeartKids, we provide vital support services from the moment of diagnosis through childhood, teen transition, and adult care.
We’re seeking a Team Leader to support our Two Feet & A HeartBeat Walk 2025 at Weston Park, Canberra, Sunday 19th October.
The Volunteer Leader provides on-the-ground leadership for a team of event volunteers, ensuring every station is briefed, supported and operating safely. By acting as the key conduit between volunteers and HeartKids staff, the Group Lead helps deliver a smooth, inclusive and meaningful experience for families, participants and the wider community, while allowing the HeartKids team to engage more fully with families on the ground where they are most needed.
We're looking for volunteer who;
-
Are friendly, approachable and calm under pressure
-
Able to stand or sit outdoors for periods of time
-
Confident in following event protocols and clear communication
-
Sensitive to the needs of families, including those walking in honour of loved ones
-
Awareness of sun safety and hydration needs.
Whether you're looking to give back, build connections, or gain experience in the not-for-profit sector, we’d love to hear from you.
HeartKids embraces diversity and inclusion, we encourage you to apply if you are a person with a disability, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse or and/or LGBTIQ+. Apply today and become a fundamental part of the HeartKids volunteer community.
