Are you compassionate, organised, and looking to contribute meaningfully to your community? The Rebecca Jane Foundation is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our operations and help families navigate one of life’s most difficult moments.

About Us The Rebecca Jane Foundation provides financial support for funeral, cremation, or burial arrangements to families experiencing hardship. We work closely with social workers, funeral directors, and families to ensure a respectful and affordable farewell for their loved ones.

The Operations Assistant Volunteer plays a key role in the smooth running of our daily operations. They are the first point of contact for families or social workers seeking support, helping to coordinate and connect them with the most suitable service providers. Whether liaising directly with families or collaborating with providers to ensure timely and effective assistance, their contribution is essential to delivering compassionate and responsive care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initial Contact: Responding to enquiries from social workers, funeral directors, and families.
  • Application Support: Guiding families through the application process or assisting when needed.
  • Information Gathering: Collecting key details such as funeral preferences and chosen providers.
  • Coordination: Liaising between families and funeral directors, and assisting with provisional approvals.

We welcome volunteers who are:

  • Empathetic and understanding
  • Organised and detail-oriented
  • Excellent communicators
  • Comfortable with phone-based interactions (incl. possible distressed family members)
  • Able to follow structured processes
  • Have flexible time and can incorporate call taking into their regular schedules
  • Preferably familiar with the funeral industry (not essential)

Availability and Requirements:

  • Time Commitment: Approx. 5-10 hours per week
  • Scheduling: Flexible hours, rotating roster of on call schedule weekdays and weekends (90% of calls occur Monday-Friday) with occasional meetings or deadlines

Requirements:

  • Access to a computer/device and reliable internet connection (we utilise G-suite and specialised web-based applications)
