Expression of Interest – Board Director Positions

The Centre for Participation is inviting expressions of interest from skilled and values-aligned individuals to join our Board of Directors.

Our organisation delivers a diverse range of services and enterprises across aged care, disability, youth, volunteering, and social enterprise. Our impact is driven by strong governance, strategic oversight, and an unwavering commitment to inclusion, rights, and community participation.

As a Director, you will help guide a dynamic and purpose-led organisation working across the Wimmera Southern Mallee region, including nationally recognised programs and innovative Work Integrated Social Enterprises (WISE) in hospitality, food security, and home maintenance.

Current Opportunities Two (2) Director vacancies are available due to retirement and completion of term. Three current Directors will be seeking reappointment. The Nominations Committee will assess all expressions of interest and recommend up to five appointments to members at the AGM.

Key Responsibilities Board members are responsible for:

• Setting and monitoring strategic direction and performance
• Financial and social impact oversight
• Supporting the CEO and overseeing succession planning
• Ensuring quality, safety, inclusion, and human rights in service delivery
• Promoting risk management, compliance, and safeguarding
• Championing
• community, sector, and stakeholder relationships

Meetings are held in Horsham, generally 6–8pm, with remote access available. Directors are expected to attend approximately 9 meetings annually, including an annual planning day. Participation in Board sub-committees or major events is expected.

What We’re Looking For We are seeking applicants with governance experience and one or more of the following areas of expertise:

• Aged care sector
• Disability sector
• Marketing and communications
• Deep knowledge of the Wimmera Southern Mallee region
• Diversity of background, age, gender, culture, and location is actively encouraged.

Essential Requirements Directors must:

• Meet requirements under the Corporations Act and ACNC Act
• Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Director Identification Number and Working with Children Check
• Undergo a police check (at our cost)
