Volunteer Homework Tutor

We are looking for volunteer tutors who can help children from refugee families with their homework. These children are from families where the parents are refugees and have limited literacy and numeracy and therefore are unable to help their children with homework.
Children range from Prep to Year 12 and help is needed with basic reading, writing and mathematics at the lower levels and with more advanced subjects at the higher levels. The volunteer chooses which level they feel most comfortable with.
A tutor giving a one hour session once a week can make a huge difference to a child’s education.
To participate as a volunteer tutor you will need a current Victorian Working With Children Check (free for volunteers) and be able to either attend face-to-face Homework Club sessions or connect with the children using Zoom.
This Homework Club program has been operating since 2010 and hundreds of children have been assisted over the years, many of whom have now graduated university and are in the workforce with successful careers.
Be part of this very rewarding activity giving young people the chance to have a more successful life.
