Social Media Officer

Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for climate justice? Do you thrive on crafting compelling content that inspires change and drives impact? Journeys for Climate Justice (JCJ) is looking for a Social Media Officer to help amplify the voices of our community partners and raise awareness of the climate action projects we support.
In this role, you'll work closely with the Communications & Digital Campaigns Manager to grow JCJ’s profile, tell powerful stories from our partners, and create engaging content that drives donations and community support. You'll hunt down meaningful moments from the field, shine a light on local climate leadership, and help shape our digital presence across platforms.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is enthusiastic about storytelling and digital campaigning
- Has a knack for writing engaging, snappy copy
- Is confident creating content across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Is proactive, collaborative, and keen to experiment with creative ideas
- Cares deeply about climate justice and supporting communities on the frontlines of change

Reports to: Communications & Digital Campaigns Manager
CORE DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Develop and schedule engaging social media content across JCJ's platforms, aligned with campaign goals and organisational values
- Collate with the Communications & Digital Manager to plan and execute content calendars for key campaigns and events
- Write and share impactful stories from our partners and project successes
- Assist with creating visual content using Canva
- Support the promotion of fundraising campaigns
- Attend regular (virtual) meetings and contribute to ideas
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and driven individual who will support JCJ's mission.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following skills and experiences:
- Currently undertaking or recently completed a Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Marketing, Communications, or similar OR have equivalent, relevant work experience (we would consider applicants who have neither but can provide a portfolio of engaging content they have created)
- Excellent written and visual storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas into clear, impactful social media content
- Proficiency with Canva, Trello, and social media scheduling platforms
- A commitment to social and climate justice
