House of Welcome Foodbank provides basic pantry items for refugees and people seeking asylum engaged in the 13x week Foodbank program. Whilst engaging with wraparound supports such as casework and employment, clients can collect items on a weekly basis to alleviate their living expenses whilst working towards financial independence. Due to limited funding, the program relies heavily on donations from schools, parishes, and other community-based initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide a safe and welcoming environment for all clients

• Assist clients with accessing the Foodbank and identifying suitable items

• To unpack and store donations appropriately

• Uphold clear professional boundaries and confidentiality

Skills, experience and attributes

• Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to learn

• Excellent communication skills particularly with vulnerable clients and across cultures

• Flexibility in response to client and service needs/capacity

• Ability to work unsupervised

• Ability to work with people with varying levels of English proficiency

• Respect for the rights and dignity of each person at the House of Welcome
