Special Olympics Northern Beaches - Club Sport Coordinator

Special Olympics Northern Beaches is proud to be part of this movement, offering a range of sports and programs that celebrate ability, dedication, and community spirit.
Be the key link between the club committee and sport leads across Basketball, Bowling, Athletics, Swimming, Golf, Dance, and Tennis. Help coordinate training and events, manage sport entries, and report on athlete activities. This leadership role ensures sport delivery meets Special Olympics standards and includes organising the annual awards lunch. Training and support provided to grow your skills in inclusive sport.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication & Coordination:
- Liaise regularly with individual sport coordinators to ensure all training sessions and competition events are delivered in line with Special Olympics Australia rules and expectations.
- Maintain regular contact with the State Sports Coordinator to support the club’s involvement in hosting regional/state events and attending State competitions.
Event & Calendar Management:
- Distribute the Sports Calendar to members and stakeholders.
- Manage the distribution of event entries and ensure relevant parties are aware of deadlines.
- Follow up with coordinators and families to ensure entries are submitted and key dates are met.
Leadership & Reporting:
- Participate in and report at monthly committee meetings, sharing updates on each sport’s activities, athlete achievements, upcoming competitions, and any emerging issues.
- Raise concerns regarding sports delivery, volunteer needs, and athlete welfare or safety to ensure a safe and inclusive sporting environment.
- Support the planning and delivery of the club’s annual awards lunch, celebrating the efforts and achievements of our athletes and volunteers.
Ideal Candidate:
- A strong communicator who can work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- Has a broad knowledge of sport and an understanding of how volunteer-run programs operate.
- Well-organised with good time management skills and attention to detail.
- Committed to inclusion and community spirit.
