Arts & Culture | Civic Place Trust – Board of Trustees

Civic Place Trust

The Civic Place Trust was established by Willoughby City Council in 2004 to promote the arts and provide cultural facilities within the community. Guided by a Deed of Variation, with Council as the settlor, the Trust is listed on the Register of Cultural Organisations (ROCO) and operates a tax-deductible public fund (Deductible Gift Recipient status). Initially focused on fundraising for the construction of The Concourse performing arts complex in Chatswood, the Trust now supports cultural programs more broadly. Recent donations have directly benefitted the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and performances at The Concourse.

The Trust is now seeking to expand its fundraising efforts through the development of a strategic fundraising and donation plan. To support this ambition, we are inviting expressions of interest for two volunteer Trustee roles to help guide and grow the Trust’s work.

We are looking for individuals who: • Have demonstrated experience in arts, fundraising, governance, law and/or finance; • Are passionate about supporting the arts and cultural facilities in our community; • Possess strong collaborative and interpersonal skills; • Are respected community members who qualify as a ‘responsible person’ under ROCO guidelines.

Trustees meet approximately 4–6 times per year. While the roles are not remunerated, reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

HOW TO APPLY Please submit your expression of interest by email to civicplacetrust@gmail.com by close of business, Friday 2 May 2025.

Your application should include: • A cover letter addressing your relevant skills, experience, and motivation; • A copy of your CV; • Contact details for three referees; and • Any other supporting information relevant to this EOI.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the role, please contact Tanya Taylor – 0459 879 370.
