HammondCare Australia

Logo for HammondCare Australia

HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home.  As a pastoral care volunteer you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church.

Could you offer the gift of gentle fellowship, a listening ear, and a moment of shared faith to someone who would truly be blessed by your presence?

We’re looking for a caring volunteer to offer gentle companionship to a lovely gentleman living in his home with his granddaughter and great-grandchildren. He speaks warmly about his life and treasures conversations about his family. A friendly face and a listening ear would mean so much to him. While he’s surrounded by loved ones, he’d truly enjoy some one-on-one time for a cuppa, a chat, and some quiet Bible reading or prayer. This is a heartfelt opportunity to walk alongside someone in faith, friendship, and meaningful fellowship.

You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:

  • Support people to meet their spiritual needs
  • Nurture spiritual development

Skills required for this role:

  • High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
  • Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Spiritual Care Series North Turramurra - Face to face When: starts Wednesday 7th May, concludes 2nd July 2025. Note a break for the week 4th June Time:2:00 – 4:00pm Where: Leighton Lodge, Nth Turramurra
