HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home.  As a pastoral care volunteer you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church.

Are you someone who loves connecting through faith, meaningful conversation, and a warm cup of tea?

We’re seeking a compassionate Pastoral Care Volunteer to spend time with a lovely woman living independently in her own home. She is deeply connected to her Catholic faith and actively involved in her local church community. Her greatest joys? God, family, cooking, and sewing. She would truly value someone to talk with, share scripture, and pray together (with her consent). A simple visit, a cuppa, and a chat could mean the world to her.

This is more than volunteering; it’s about spiritual companionship and gentle fellowship.

You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs
• Nurture spiritual development

Skills required for this role:

• High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
• Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Your impact

Volunteering along side Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
