HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home.  As a pastoral care volunteer you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church.

We are seeking a Pastoral Care Volunteer to visit an elderly client living at home in Marsden Park. Our client is an avid listener of audiobooks with a passion for crime fiction, has had a diverse career spanning farm work, warehouses, public revenue, and trustee roles. A devoted person of faith, he would greatly benefit from a pastoral care volunteer who can listen to his concerns and offer prayer and companionship.

You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs
• Nurture spiritual development

Skills required for this role:

• High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
• Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
