Wildlife Health Australia (WHA) is seeking new Board Members to support our mission of protecting and enhancing Australia's natural environment, biodiversity, economy, and human and animal health.

About Wildlife Health Australia WHA is Australia’s national, independent coordinating body for wildlife health. We work to: • Lead national action on wildlife health. • Foster meaningful partnerships across government, industry, and community. • Champion science-based decision-making. • Enhance Australia’s preparedness and response to emerging health threats.

About the Role WHA is seeking Board Members with governance experience and strategic thinking skills who can actively contribute to our Board’s leadership and oversight. We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise or knowledge in any of the following areas: • Legal – Corporate governance, regulatory compliance, or not-for-profit law. • Financial – Budgeting, financial oversight, and risk management • HR & Workforce Strategy – Workforce planning, recruitment, and workplace culture • Digital Transformation – Technology strategy, cybersecurity, or data governance • Risk Management – Strategic risk assessment and management • Philanthropy & Fundraising – Experience in donor engagement, grant funding, and financial sustainability.

Who We Are Looking For To be successful, you will bring: • Commitment to WHA’s mission and a passion for wildlife, environmental, or public health. • Strategic thinking and planning experience at a senior level • Governance expertise and an understanding of financial and risk oversight • Collaboration and teamwork skills, contributing constructively to Board deliberations • Integrity and independence, ensuring decisions align with WHA’s strategic objectives • Availability to attend Board meetings and contribute to WHA’s governance. While prior Board experience and AICD membership is desirable, we welcome applications from emerging leaders with transferable skills in governance, policy, or sector expertise. A Director Identification Number will be required if your application is progressed.

Commitment & Remuneration • This is a voluntary position with a term of up to three years. • The Board generally meets virtually, with in-person meetings where required. • Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with WHA policy.
