Desktop Research, Grants & Data Entry Member for Fundraising Sub-Committee (Volunteer) About Sharks And Rays Australia Research Ltd. (SARA-r) SARA-r is a non-profit founded by SARA Pty Ltd in 2021, to expand our ongoing work with endangered sharks and rays, including sawfish, both in Queensland (field work, collaborations with Aboriginal Land and Sea Ranger groups, collaborations with local schools) and Australia wide (Citizen science project identifying sawfish distributions). Sawfishes are the most endangered rays in the world. We believe that long-term conservation goals can only be achieved if they are based on sound science, public outreach and working with local stakeholders.
About Fundraising Sub-Committee SARA-r has completed our Fundraising Strategy and we are seeking specific skills for Fundraising Sub-Committee which will help implement the Strategy. Meetings are likely to be held after normal work hours. Members must reside in Australia. Location: Online/Remote (Far North Queensland based charity) Start: Immediate
Employment type: Voluntary Each sub-committee member may vary in capabilities and will be allocated activities or tasks according to their qualifications, skills and experience. Example of Activities carried out by the sub-committee: • Implement the fundraising and sponsorship strategy to help SARA-r generate sustainable sources of revenue. • Develop and maintain databases of potential partner organisations, donors and funding sources • Develop marketing or communication templates and collateral for engaging with donors or partner organisations for fundraising activities • Develop social media content for fundraising activities as required • Coordinate any fundraising events and activities (e.g. online fundraising) • Assist with activities related to fundraising online (or in-person where required or possible)
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- A commitment to SARA-r’s organisational and fundraising objectives
- Sufficient time to devote to attending meetings and completing actions for the Committee
- An understanding of the role and responsibilities as a member of the Committee
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders
- Ability to work as a team and independently.
- Access to technology required to attend online committee meetings and carry out duties that involve the use of Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and social media applications.

Skills & Experience
Sub-Committee members with one or more of the following skills and experience will be considered.
Essential

Qualifications or experience and demonstrated knowledge in a marketing and/or communications with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Skills in desktop research, data entry and MS Excel database compilation and related, relevant qualifications and skills

Experience in social media content creation and social media platform use or relevant qualifications
Desirable 4. Experience in fundraising for not-for-profits will be highly regarded.

Experience or knowledge in grant funding guidelines and requirements.

Ability to understand and convey scientific research and/or conservation objectives and activities of SARA-r would be beneficial.

Networks and links with businesses, government or connections in Queensland/Far North Queensland area.
