Maggie’s Rescue exists to create a world where no animal is in need of rescue. Operating since 2011, we are a co-operative of volunteer foster carers and passionate animal advocates, working together to achieve our shared vision.

We are seeking a deputy chair to join our diverse and active board to continue to grow and expand our impact in the companion animal welfare space.

The Deputy Chair is responsible for aiding the Chair in the leadership of the board, acting in their place if they are not available. The Deputy Chair supports proper information flow to the board, facilitating effective functioning of the board and managing the conduct, frequency and length of board meetings. The Deputy Chair also supports the Chair in communicating the board’s views to Maggie’s stakeholders and the public.

Key Responsibilities

Management Span

● Acts in place of the Chair when they are not available for any reason ● May sit on one or more committees of the Board Communication, Collaboration & Relationships ● From time to time may be required to act as the public face of Maggie’s Rescue, advocating and promoting programs and objectives to the community ● Works in partnership with key stakeholders including Board, staff and other volunteers

Systems, Policies & Processes

● Maintains compliance with legislation and regulations as well as Maggie’s policies and procedures

General

● Participates in meetings and other activities as required ● After hours work required on a regular basis

Desirable: ● Experience in a similar role ● Governance qualifications e.g. AICD ● Tertiary qualifications or commensurate experience in governance or legal
