Volunteer Marketing Assistant

POSITION OVERVIEW Chronic Pain Australia is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Marketing Assistant to work closely with our General Manager to support digital campaigns, content creation, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is very tech-savvy, organised, highly creative, and can work autonomously when needed. You’ll be confident using tools like Klaviyo, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and social platforms, with a knack for compelling storytelling and a strong eye for detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Email Marketing: Develop, test and manage email campaigns and automation flows in Klaviyo, including segmentation, analytics, and performance optimisation.
- Content Creation: Design and produce engaging marketing content, including videos, graphics, flyers, posters, and digital assets using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and Canva.
- Website Management: Update and manage content on WordPress, including landing pages, forms (including Klaviyo integrations), blogs, and general site maintenance.
- Social Media: Support the development and scheduling of content calendars, create and publish content across platforms, and monitor community engagement.
- Copywriting: Craft clear, persuasive, and error-free copy for web, email, reports, social media, and print materials.
- Event Support: Assist with the coordination and delivery of online events and webinars via Zoom, including hosting support, tech setup, and follow-ups.
- Organisation & Admin: Maintain orderly digital filing systems with appropriate naming conventions, collaborate via Google Workspace, and manage marketing resources.
- Autonomous Work: Manage and prioritise tasks independently, identify areas for improvement or content opportunities, and take initiative in periods of downtime.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and maintains a consistent look, tone and feel.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the General Manager and other team members to bring content ideas to life and ensure they support ongoing campaigns and initiatives.
- Content Strategy: Contribute to content strategy and brainstorming sessions to ensure effective messaging and engagement with the chronic pain community.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Creative thinking with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Klaviyo (or similar) for email marketing and automation
- Experience in content marketing, including strong video editing and graphic design skills
- Proficiency in content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and Canva.
- Solid understanding of WordPress and its integrations
- Proven ability to manage and grow social media platforms with engaging content
- Exceptional written communication skills with high attention to grammar and detail
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a structured approach to digital filing and version control
- Experience designing a variety of marketing collateral – digital and print
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar)
- Comfortable with Zoom, including webinars and virtual meeting management
- A strong interest in marketing for not-for-profit or philanthropic organisations
- A passion for chronic pain awareness and advocacy is highly desirable.
